Why a tomato festival?
Tomatoes are one of the most healthiest produces one can eat. Tomatoes are high in lycopene a natural resource that has been stated to boost the immune system. Locally grown tomatoes taste great, can be used to make a multitude of dishes, can be cooked or eaten in it's natural state and are one of the largest crops harvested on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
A variety of heirloom tomatoes are grown on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and will be featured. While visiting our tomato festival please try our great tasting stewed tomatoes, tomato pie, fried green tomatoes, tomato pizza and of course our tomato wine just to name a few favorites. It is time we salute and celebrate the tomato!
